Katarmal Sun Temple, Almora, Uttarakhand

The 9th century Katarmal Sun Temple at an altitude of 2116mt  Almora District, Uttarakhand, India .

Which  still displays the artistic & engineering marvel of our ancestors

The Katyuri Kings built a rather rare Surya temple in Katarmal in the ninth century CE, which serves as a reminder of the style at the time. The adhesive agent was created by masons of the period using a mixture of lime and lentil paste🚩

The main Surya god, known as Burhadita or Vraddhaditya, is surrounded by 44 lesser temples built by the Katyuri ruler Katarmalla☀️

This temple complex also has other deities like Shiva-Parvathi and Lakshmi-Narayana. After a 10th-century idol was stolen, the carved wooden doors and panels were moved to the National Museum in Delhi🇮🇳

According to the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act of 1958, the temple, which has additional carvings on its walls and panels, was designated a monument of national importance🇮🇳

When the first Sun rays fall on this temple it enlightens an ancient idol of the Sun God called Vraddhaditya🔱🚩🔱
